On The Job Traineeship Program

On-the-job and off-the-job training programs are the two different forms of training delivery that are possible under the traineeship scheme.

An on-the-job traineeship enables a trainee to receive training on-the-job from their employer allowing the trainee to work towards a nationally recognised qualification.  Stones & Muirden Business College & Training Centre will act as a mentor, carrying out validations and assessing competencies within the trainees natural work environment.  The advantage of this type of training structure is the trainee is located at their workplace five days per week and gaining a qualification whilst on-the-job.

The role of a training provider during an on-the-job traineeship is:

  • To develop a customised training plan with the employer and trainee at the beginning of the program tailoring their qualification requirements to their job description.

  • To monitor the trainee’s progress during the scheme with periodical site visits.

  • To assess the trainee’s level of competency against nationally accredited criteria.

  • To issue a nationally recognised qualification when all assessments have been completed and deemed competent.

  • To offer support to the employer and trainee in relation to training and assessment concerns.
